Bloxorz Unblocked — Play Free Online

Bloxorz is a block-rolling logic puzzle from the Flash era, the work of Damien Clarke at DX Interactive. The version on this page runs the original Flash file through Ruffle, an emulator that lets old SWF games play in a current browser. You steer a tall rectangular block across a floating grid of tiles, and the aim on every stage is to drop it neatly into a square hole.

How the block moves

The block is two tiles tall and one tile wide. Press an arrow key and it tips over in that direction. Standing up, it falls flat and covers two tiles. Lying down, it either rolls sideways along its length or flips back up onto one end. The hole only accepts the block when it arrives standing upright, so most of the thinking goes into planning which way it will be facing when it reaches the goal. Roll any part of it off the edge of the grid and the stage restarts.

• Controls: the arrow keys, nothing else.
• Goal: end the move standing on the hole.
• Fail: let any part of the block hang off the grid.

Levels, switches and special tiles

The game has 33 stages. The first few teach the rolling rules, and new pieces arrive as you go:

• Round switches (sometimes called soft switches) trigger when any part of the block lands on them.
• X-shaped switches are heavy switches. They only react when the block stands on them upright.
• Bracket switches, drawn like a pair of parentheses, teleport the block and split it into two single cubes. You then move the two cubes one at a time.
• Orange tiles are fragile. They hold the block when it lies flat but give way if you stand it upright on one of them.

When the block is split, the small cubes are too light for the X switches and can only press round ones. That restriction drives several of the later puzzles.

Passcodes

Each stage shows a passcode in the top-right corner. Write it down. Entering the code from the menu takes you straight back to that stage, so you do not have to replay the early levels after a break.

Tips

• Work backward from the hole. Decide which tile the block must stand on next to it, then plan the moves that get it there.
• Count rolls along a corridor. Rolling sideways keeps the block flat, while rolling lengthwise flips it from flat to upright and back.
• Switches do different jobs from stage to stage. After pressing one, look around the board to see what changed before you move on.
• Cross orange tiles lying down, and only stand up once you are back on solid ground.
• With split cubes, remember that only round switches respond to them, so plan which cube presses which switch.
